Each of us may question if it was an accident that the surrey happened to be sitting where it was with the two ladies and girl behind it on the porch. One very attractive young lady with her chin in her hand, another I just realized from the inlargement shaking her fist at my grandfather or the object of the photograph. And then the very young girl with long hair wishing that it was her driving the pony cart in the street.

Realizing that when we take photo today with our digital cameras with endless storage we click, click and then click some more. Lot of pictures and maybe, just maybe we will have at least one or two good ones. My grandfather only had one chance, one pose. Depth of field, exposure time he had to be the master of all the technical aspects of photography to get this picture on the single glass plate he was using. All was perfect. Oh! that darn horse moved his head. Bennie must have seen it happen. Still he captured a true work of art for us to enjoy.
